I'm so glad we found each other.
After 25 years contributing to a college in Maryland, I retired to take on a new position.
I'm an ICF-certified coach, a retired professor of coaching, and the inaugural director of The Tig Krekel Center for Coaching and Mentoring at the United States Naval Academy. Though I graduated from Michigan State University, the University of Colorado, and The Johns Hopkins University, I have something to share and to confess.
Coaching lights me up.
I would trade in all of my college degrees just to have my coaching skills; that's how impactful coaching is. Since coaching can be used with every human on the planet, it's the must-have set of skills for this century. Coaching and its little sister, mentoring, are also the foundation of my current work, the new book I've authored (tentatively due out in 2026-2027!), and all my public speaking engagements.

Before taking positions in higher education, I taught in suburban Denver, on the Navajo Nation, in Quito, Ecuador, in inner-city Baltimore, and on ropes courses in North Carolina and Arizona. When I'm not writing my blog or living my core values deeply, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and exploring new places.
